Moody AFB Ceramic Squadron Mugs

is located in south Georgia, just 30 miles north of the Florida border. It was opened on September 15, 1941 and was originally named Valdosta Airfield. The airfield was renamed Moody Army Airfield on December 6, 1941 in honor of Major George Putnam Moody, an early Air Force pioneer. The base attained permanent status in 1954. It is the home of the 23d Wing.
