B-29 Superfortress Bomber Aircraft Models

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was a four-engine heavy bomber used during World War II and the Korean War. The B-29 was designed to replace the B-17 and B-24, with its first flight in 1942. The long range capability of the B-29 was well suited for employment in the Pacific Theater, from bases in China and the Pacific islands. Two specially modified Silverplate B-29 aircraft were used to employ atomic weapons against the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bringing World War 2 to an end 6 days later.
